Dear JCS Families,
In order to provide the highest amount of protection to the members of our JCS family, we will move to instruction via distance learning effective Tuesday, March 24th. We will reserve Monday, March 23rd, as an in-service day for teachers to finalize all of their preparations for distance learning, communicate with families, and send practice work home to help familiarize our students with components of online learning.
You have already received, or will soon receive an email from your child's principal with more specific information on what distance learning will entail for their area (eg PK2-P4, K-1st grade, 2nd-6th grade, and 7th-12th grade). Each of your student's teachers will email you specific information on March 23rd for how their class will leverage distance learning, as well as share additional resources that will enable the best overall learning experiences for your children.
As we head into Spring Break the week of March 16th, the health, well-being, safety, and security of our JCS community of students, families, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority. JCS' Health and Wellness Preparedness Committee will continue to closely monitor updates and advisories as they become available concerning COVID-19, and we will follow all CDC and the Florida Department of Health guidelines. We are committed to keeping you informed of important changes, to safeguarding your well-being and safety, and to making decisions based on the latest public health guidelines and emerging information. As of now, all Florida public schools have announced that they are closed for the next 2 weeks. We will continue with our JCS distance learning plans for as long as we need to do so to ensure the health and well-being of our JCS families.
I pray that we, as a JCS community, may continue to look to the Lord for guidance, peace, and provision during these challenging times. We know nothing surprises Him, and my prayer for our community is that we can be a shining light for Him as we choose faith over fear. That doesn't mean that we won't stay alert, aware of the latest facts and information, and act accordingly to protect the health and well-being of others. May we live out the words of Paul to the church in Philippi, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me - practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."
