Dear Upper School Families,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well after Hurricane Dorian. Living in South Florida and the Treasure Coast communities is a blessing and we praise God for sparing us from the storm. However, the loss of life, and homes of our neighbors in Grand Bahama suffered, is devastating. JCS will be supporting Island Outreach as they bring relief and Christ to the outer islands of the Bahamas. To find out how you can help, visit our website main page and learn more about the Bahamas Relief Project
As September continues to march forward I wanted to make sure you were aware of a few key pieces of information.
- Our first Parent U will kick off Tuesday, September 10th in the media center. The first seminar is on the Middle School Years and Dr. Breslin will be sharing both his history with MS and the research he has read and documented. There will be two times available 8:15 – 9:15 in the morning and 6:00 - 7:00p.m. We hope to see you there.
- Minimester registration will be online and opening soon.
- The counseling department is sending home a list of new initiatives from college letter writing, study habits to learning how to self-advocate.
- Our fall sports are in full swing, please continue to look at the school calendar for a meet or game near you. Our students love to be encouraged and it's a wonderful chance to build community.
- Some of the US clubs have begun including Gaming Club which had 30 students having a "smash brothers" contest and discussing a way to code for games.
- Teachers will be spending time evaluating ACT scores and identifying our strengths/opportunities as a whole school. Later in the day they will be implementing tangible lessons to address the results.
This year has started off really well and I encourage every parent with a question to contact us. Our goal is to help you and your student. As JCS continues to increase in our academic profile we are looking at new classes, programs and pragmatic methods to both challenge and then help our students meet that challenge.
Thank you for being a community of Christ.
In His Service,
