Dear JCS families,
What a wonderful year we have had with JCS Fine Arts! From the Christmas concerts celebrating the birth of our Savior to the Veteran's Day program honoring those who serve our country, our music department filled our year will songs of praise. This month, the spring band and choir concert at the beautiful Eissey Campus Theatre proved to be an unforgettable performance showcasing the hard work and talent of our fine arts students. Back in April, our theatre students performed in sold out shows in a production of Little Mermaid Jr. and our visual arts students displayed their work at a variety of events including Arti Gras. Our MS Band placed first in the Music USA Festival hosted at Universal in Orlando. We are so proud of the creativity and talent of our students and the dedication, expertise and care with which our fine arts faculty teach them.
At Jupiter Christian, our Fine Arts Academy, made up of choir, band, art and theatre, remains committed to nurture and encourage each student in the discovery of their God-given talents to bring glory to God and His kingdom. We are excited for the continued growth of this academy and can't wait to see what God has in store for the 2019-20 school year!
As we look to the upcoming fall academic session, we want to share with our JCS families about those Fine Arts Academy faculty who will be transitioning to new roles at Jupiter Christian, as well as new members who will be joining the team. Even with transition, JCS remains committed to a program and faculty that will educate students in a nurturing community to excel in life and engage the world.
Thank you Susan Rush, Lower School Music Teacher!
Our school has been blessed to have Susan Rush lead our Lower School music program for many years bringing us incredible programs showcasing the musical talents of our youngest students in performances that have delighted our families and honored God. We are grateful for her dedication to inspiring a love of music in her students during her tenure. Mrs. Rush will be stepping down from her position as LS Music teacher this month. The administration and Mrs. Rush remain in conversations regarding potential opportunities to remain on staff at JCS.
Mrs. Rush shares, "By the leading of the Lord I am stepping down from my current position as the Lower School Music teacher. It has been my honor and joy to serve JCS in this capacity. I have loved working with all of your precious children for the past 13 years. Music is a gift from God, designed for praise, worship, inspiration and enjoyment. I pray that I have been able to impact my student's lives as much as they have impacted mine. During my time as their music teacher, I have encouraged each one of my students to develop their musical abilities to their fullest potential while honoring the Lord not only through music but in their lives as well. I will miss listening to their beautiful voices as they prepare to honor the Lord in all of their programs. I look forward to what He has in mind for me as I continue to serve Him at JCS in another capacity."
With this transition, we are currently interviewing candidates and are thankful our Fine Arts Department Head Michelle Hoffman will continue to lead the K-12 program in the fall. Additionally, it is our pleasure to announce that David Muller will be the new US choir director. Mr. Muller came on board with us the last two months and has already made a lasting impact on our students and our choir program.
In a previous From the Desk of the President newsletter, we honored our retiring Visual Arts Teacher Claire Sites. We are so pleased that Mrs. Sites will remain a part of our JCS team in a part-time role next year assisting our Advancement Team with Alumni relations and further developing opportunity for the Fine Arts to serve in Palm Beach County. We are interviewing many qualified candidates for her position at this time.
In our Theatre Arts program, Dawn Hrynkiw will be moving into a part-time role next year which includes remaining involved in the theatre program and productions. At this time, we are pleased to introduce Sarah Fahey who will serve as the full time Upper School Theatre Teacher in the fall.
With a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Sarah comes to JCS with experience as a director of acting and musical theater. She most recently served as Director of Acting/Musical Theatre at The King's Academy, teaching students in grades 4-12. During her time there, Sarah directed the production of Peter and the Starcatcher and served as co-director for a number of shows including Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserable and Funny Girl. Mrs. Fahey was drawn to JCS for our distinctively nurturing community and the opportunity to build relationships and disciple our students. As a creative and enthusiastic teacher, trained singer, actor and tap dancer, Sarah is excited to have the opportunity to nurture, inspire and motivate JCS students to use their gifts and talents to bring glory to God. Welcome to the JCS family Sarah!
