2018-19 School Year Welcome & New Faculty & Staff Introduction

Dear JCS families,

Our faculty, staff, administration and Board of Directors are overjoyed to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year at Jupiter Christian! We want to extend a very special welcome to our new families as well.

2018 marks our 55th year as Jupiter Christian School and we are so blessed to celebrate our rich history of providing quality Christian education with a mission of inspiring servant leaders who will impact the world for Christ. The memories our alumni and families share show us the heart of our school and the bonds that form when we come together to learn and grow as brothers and sisters in Christ. We carry our time-honored JCS traditions with us as we embark on a new school year and move into the future of Jupiter Christian.

We have been amazed to see all that God has provided for our school as the capital projects that we prayed over last year have come to life. Over the summer we saw our gymnasium transformed into a true multi-purpose facility, our new East campus for PK2-1st grade come to completion and a West campus reorganization that allowed for more classroom space for our Lower School programs including art, music, Spanish, library, and extended care. Our campuses also received many new enhancements to our security program last spring that allow us to better secure our campus perimeter, support our security staff and protect our school with a state-of-the-art security technology system.

In May, we shared with you our 2018-19 school theme: A Community of Grace. This year we will focus together on cultivating a grace-filled community. Ephesians 2:9 brings us the good news that by grace we are saved through faith. This spirit of grace will be incorporated into every area of our school from our classrooms to our athletic and fine arts programs to student retreats, chapels, GAP groups, faculty professional development, and even a new parent ambassador Grace Team. Our JCS Community of Grace is made up of students, families, faculty, staff, administration, and board members who want to share the grace and love of Jesus with each other, with our community and with the world.

Last week all of our JCS faculty and staff joined together for in-services and final classroom and campus preparations. Through the last few months we have shared with you some new faculty and staff members who have joined our team and we are pleased to introduce you to a few more shining additions to our JCS family.

New Faculty & Staff Members

Jupiter Christian School is pleased to welcome Nancy Loud to our facilities operations department which serves both our East and West campuses. As Operations Assistant, Nancy works closely with our Director of Facilities Operations, Jacob Godino and our fantastic maintenance staff to ensure that everything is running smoothly including maintenance, transportation, event facilities set up and so much more. Nancy's organizational skills and attention to detail paired with her action-oriented work philosophy and her genuine love for our school community, make her such a blessing for JCS. Many of you know Nancy's husband Scott, who is our Assistant Athletic Director, and we couldn't be more grateful for their family's ministry at Jupiter Christian.

Many of our JCS families recall Dawn's passion for teaching drama at our school where she directed and produced the fall, Christmas and spring shows for six years. Like so many of our dedicated faculty, Dawn's desire to share the love and message of Christ extended beyond the classroom during her years at JCS where she served as a minimester trip leader, high school girls small group co-leader and 9th grade class retreat leader. With a Bachelor of Science degree in English education from the University of South Florida, Dawn has also served as a high school English teacher during her 18-year career in education and most recently taught in this capacity at Bradenton Christian School in Bradenton, FL. She has also served in the Palm Beach County School District as a counselor and behavioral assistant where she worked closely with students in a variety of hands-on educational areas such as computers, science, arts & crafts and reading. Nardia's experience serving as a children's church teacher and choir director allows her to share the love of Christ with our East Campus students in ways that spark their creativity.

Summer McCarthy (PK2 Aide/Cafeteria/Extended Care): As a Jupiter Christian School Alumni, Summer knew from an early age that she had a passion for children and wanted to pursue a degree in elementary education. After receiving an Associates of Arts degree in elementary education from Palm Beach State College, she served as a preschool-3rd grade media center teacher at Lake Park Baptist School where she taught reading, language, communication, listening comprehension and computer research.
