The Cure

For the upcoming 2018-19 school year the JCS Family will focus together on cultivating a grace-filled community. Our theme A Community of Grace will be incorporated into all aspects of the school year, from student retreats to chapels and GAP groups to faculty professional development, and more. We will launch this theme with the summer reading book, The Cure. All Upper School students in grades 7-12 will be required to read The Cure over the summer and complete a journal that will be submitted to their Bible or English teacher at the start of the year.

Field Day

Thursday, May 31st is our Lower School Field Day. There will be lots of activity, water based games and most importantly—FUN! Students should plan on getting wet so they may want to bring a towel or a change of clothes. Field trip t-shirts, uniform bottoms and sneakers or water shoes should be worn that day. There will be drinking water stations but STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING WATER BOTTLES to refill throughout the day. Looking forward to a FUN DAY!

2018 Camp Eagle features a variety of day camps and sports camps taught by some of the areas' top instructors!  New camps have recently been added:

  • Camp-Bell Sing: Learn how to sing solo and as an ensemble with traditional folk songs, Disney classics and songs from famous Broadway musicals! The camp will also explore how to play the bells in a group as we continue to learn musical terminology and theory! (Bells will be provided.)
  • Lit Comes Alive (Reading Comprehension): Do you want your child to read and create this summer? We will start with a story and from there create songs, art, games, change up characters, and even participate in science experiments from the story! It will be a fun week of reading, learning and creating!
  • STEM Robotics: This summer, join us as we build and control LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robots to complete challenges and have fun along the way. Each camper will be given their own robot to modify however they see fit, as well as receive help and guidance to achieve their goals. If your child has any interest in pursuing STEM as they move on to higher education, this is a great place to start.

A 10% sibling discount is also available. To find out more about the summer camp programming, contact Coach Hoffman.

Community Service

Students who are going to be in high school next year can get a jump start on their community service hours by serving our local ministry partners this summer. The opportunities include helping with a community soccer camp (no soccer experience necessary to help) and 3 days serving at local ministries. Date and details are on the attached permission forms. If you need more information please email Pastor Charlie.  Soccer Camp | Local Ministries
