Upper School Principal Joe Zambrano has announced the class of 2020 Valedictorian is Mr. Cade Gerks and Mr. Dean Freeman is the Salutatorian.
Cade Gerks, Valedictorian:
Cade proudly represents Jupiter Christian School as the Class of Valedictorian due to his top ranked GPA of 4.454. He is a Pathfinder nominee in the category of Academic Excellence, which showcases candidates who excel in all areas of academic achievement. Cade served as the Junior Marshall, leading last year's graduating seniors into graduation and Academic Award recognitions in Math, Spanish, History, and English during his tenure at Jupiter Christian School. Cade served as "Officer 1" in the National Honor Society and has been a member since his sophomore year. His extracurricular activities included the Varsity Football Team and Secretary for the Thespian Society. With all Cade has accomplished scholastically and athletically, he continues to make time to serve the community. Cade worked to assist his peers in AP Calculus who needed added assistance and understanding.Hisvolunteer service includes workas a social media intern at BatterEASE, completed house painting projects for veterans, volunteered in a soup kitchen, beach cleanings and served as an assistant teacher at Kids Need More Art in Jupiter. Cade will be attending the University of Central Florida, in Orlando, Florida in the fall and majoring in Information Technology. Cade is the son of Geoff and Natalie Gerks of Jupiter, Florida.
Dean Freeman, Salutatorian:
Dean is the JCS class of 2020 Salutatorian with a GPA of 4.445. He is the Pathfinder nominee in the category of Math. At JCS, Dean has been recognized with Excellence Awards in History, Science, Math and Theatre Academic Excellence. Additionally, he was recognized with a National Merit Commendation in 2019 due to excellence in PSAT testing and won the Creative Writing Award through ACSI in 2019. Dean has excelled in various areas of involvement at JCS as he served as the Copy Editor for the Journalism Club in 2018, he directed and wrote a One-Act Play for the Fine Arts Festival and served as a fierce competitor in the Debate Club. Dean is a 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo, and a boxer. His service in the community includes work at the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Kid's World, the Hobe Sound Nature Preserve and the JCS Community Service Club. Dean is passionate about reading and writing as he has read over 250 books and has written over 40,000 words of unpublished stories. Dean will be attending the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in the fall and majoring in History. Dean is the son of Dean and Josephine Freeman of Stuart, Florida.
