8th Grader Lily Warren Selected for All-State Chorus

Congratulations to 8th Grader Lily Warren on being selected for the 2020 All-State Chorus! She will represent JCS at the upcoming Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) Professional Development Conference in Tampa, FL in January. Lily was selected for the All-State Middle School Mixed Chorus.

"The All-State Choir requires a lengthy process of auditions that includes musicianship exams, aural skills assessments, graded sight reading, and vocal quality auditions," explained JCS Choir Teacher David Muller. "I am very proud of Lily and the hard work she put in for this huge achievement. Her work ethic is truly what makes the talent that God has given her shine.  Lily will sing along side the best musicians in the state in January in Tampa. This is a very prestigious function and I am so excited for Lily to be the first of my students to make it into the All-State choir."

Lily shared that she is looking forward to this exciting opportunity and grateful to her choir teacher Mr. Muller for his time and dedication to ensuring she was prepared for each step of the process.

All-state participants will be performing at the FMEA Conference, Celebrating Musical Excellence: Past, Present & Future that will take place January 8-11, 2020 at the Tampa Convention Center. Mr. Muller and JCS Fine Arts Department Chair and Music Teacher Michelle Hoffman will be attending the conference along with approximately 2,000 other music teachers and 2,000 student performers and families.  The entire weekend is designed for teacher development and performances from the top music students in the state.
