Ms. Susan Rivera
Originally from Grove City, Pennsylvania, Ms. Rivera is an educator and leader with experience working in education from the early years through high school. She began her educational career as a director of an infant and toddler program before moving on to work in the public school's Title I program. Ms. Rivera moved to South Florida in 2000. Prior to joining the Jupiter Christian family, she taught at a private school in Broward County. There she taught 2nd grade and moved on to teach 6th grade English and History, followed by 7th, 8th, and 9th grade English. During that time, she directed a vibrant and engaging summer program which offered recreational day camp, specialized opportunities in athletics and the arts, as well as academic support and enrichment courses. At JCS, she has taught 5th and 6th grade Language Arts and 7th and 8th grade English as well as English I, English II, World Literature, and American Literature serving a total of 22 years in education.
In recent years, Ms. Rivera stepped away from the classroom to serve Jupiter Christian School as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction where her expertise in educating children of all ages and demonstrated history as a teacher leader provided her with multiple, valuable perspectives on academic programming and instructional practice. In this position she used her skills in developing and implementing curriculum, instruction, and assessment that aligns with state and national standards and embraces technology integration. As Director of Curriculum and Instruction, she consistently supported teachers as they navigated education in the 21st century and their ongoing professional development through creative content and delivery of seminars, mentoring, completing observations, and providing meaningful and individualized feedback.
Today she serves as Interim Lower School Principal. Ms. Rivera holds a B.S. in Education and Masters of Education degrees in both Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction. She is currently certified through the state of Florida and ACSI in the areas of administration, ESE and teaching.
