Alumni Spotlight: Tina McClary ‘04 Success for Jupiter Christian Alumni Tina McClary comes not only from a rewarding career and a beautiful family but also from giving back to her school and church community that helped shape who she is today. During her time as a student at JCS, Tina immersed herself in school life and found a way to participate in as many activities as possible from student government to cheerleading, even being voted as the student with the most JCS Eagle Pride! But her true passion was in the field of science, where the Jupiter Christian science magnet program allowed her to grow academically in a variety of science courses during her high school years. Among her favorite school memories are the many science fairs she participated in that further fueled her desire to pursue a science related career. Tina credits the academic science program at JCS, where she learned good, solid reasoning skills and the importance of focusing on each step of a project to see it through to completion, as really preparing her for university studies. While Tina was an excellent student with a strong work ethic, she struggled with what she didn’t know at the time were several learning disabilities. After graduation, she attended Stetson University for two years and there she was able to identify the challenges she had always faced in the learning process and discovered that God had a plan for her life to overcome these difficulties. She went on to be accepted into the pharmacy program at Palm Beach Atlantic University and graduated with a doctorate degree at the age of 24. As a native Floridian, Tina has always loved to be out on the water in her spare time. Once she received her degree, she moved to the Florida Keys looking for new experiences where her love of the ocean could coexist with her exciting new career. She worked as a pharmacist there for CVS pharmacy for three years, gaining professional experience while living in paradise. When she relocated back home to the Jupiter area, her connection with Jupiter Christian continued since her aunt is a 2nd grade teacher at JCS. This meant Tina came back to campus often and had the opportunity to see her school family whenever she visited. For Tina, the true strength of Jupiter Christian is the family environment that was present when she was in school and continues today. She recalls, during her high school years, how the teachers really cared about their students, just like family. She hopes to have her children attend JCS when they are old enough, so they can experience this special school where she says the love of Christ is ever present. Tina currently works as a pharmacist at CVS in Jupiter and recently became a mentor for the JCS Senior Capstone program where she was able to share with students her expertise in the field of pharmacy. She is proud to be a part of this program that allows seniors to explore their career aspirations even before they enter college. “The Capstone Mentorship Program has been a rewarding experience for both myself as an industry professional and the incredible Jupiter Christian senior who I had the opportunity to mentor. It allows students to dive deeper into their chosen career path,” Tina shared. “In the pharmacy profession, my JCS senior was able to look closer at critical issues facing pharmacists today and see how pharmacists serve the community as the most accessible healthcare professionals who can assist them to reach their desired health outcomes.” For Tina it all comes back to sharing the message of Christ through the giving of her time and talents to help others. In addition to her work with JCS, she is involved in the Counsel of Catholic Women at St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta and has conducted lectures as an alumni for her alma mater Palm Beach Atlantic University. Tina lives in Hobe Sound, FL with her husband Dustin and children Noelle (2 ½) and Reef (4 months). Alumni Spotlight
