Box Tops for Education Dress Down Days
For every 20 box tops that your child brings in, he/she will receive a dress down coupon. Dress down coupons may be used on the first Wednesday of the month. Please be sure that your student follows the JCS guidelines for dress down days. Jeans may be worn; wording on sweaters or tops is not to be offensive.
Elementary Planned Absence
Under special circumstance, absence requests may be arranged so that your child does not suffer the full academic penalty for an absence. If your child is going to miss class because of a planned absence, please click here to print out the "Special Absence Request" form. Fill out the top section, sign and date the form and turn it in to your child's teacher. The teacher will then fill in your child's assignments. Forms should be submitted to the school at least five days prior to your child's absence. Questions should be directed to the elementary office at 561.354.1927
Elementary Lunch With Students
At different times during the school year, many parents join their children for lunch. Often other classmates are invited to join them. If you plan to eat lunch with your child and invite some additional children, we will need a permission note from the parents of the other children. You will need to contact the other parents and ask them to write a note to the child's teacher providing the permission to join you for lunch. Following the lunch time, parents should not take the children to the playground but return them to be with the rest of their classmates. Please contact Mr. Vorlicky if you have any questions.
Do You Know Who Your Children Are Communicating With Online?
With the increase use of cell phones and social networking sites, it is extremely important that parents monitor their children's use of cell phones and the computer. Last year, the school had a representative from the State of Florida Attorney General's Office speak to students in sixth-twelfth grades concerning child predators and related issues related to online use of the computer. A parent meeting was also held with a national expert on cyberbullying. A new website that we recently became aware of that needs to be monitored is weeworld.com. This, as well as other social networking sites, need to be monitored very carefully by parents. A book that was available at last year's parent meeting is titled Net Cetera-Chatting with Kids About Being Online. Some additional copies of the book are still available in the receptionist’s office.
