Advanced Placement Courses
Advanced Placement courses are available for High School students and are regulated by enrollment demands. These courses provide students the opportunity to possibly earn college credit for courses taken while still in high school. AP exams are given in May for all students who have taken AP courses. There is a fee for each AP course and there is an additional fee for each AP exam taken. Fees are not included in tuition. One additional (1.0) qaulity point will be earned by the student who takes an AP course and also takes an AP exam; half a quality point (.5) will be earned by a student who elects not to take the AP test. This is in keeping with state standards.

Honors Courses
Honors courses are available to those students who meet the academic requirements. An additional half credit (.5) grade point is given to the student who takes an honors course and maintains a “C” average. To remain in any honors class, a student must maintain all passing grades on his/her report card.

College Search
The college search for every student is both an exciting and challenging time. Through the guidance office, students are able to visit campuses, search colleges online, talk with counselors, speak with college representatives, and research colleges and universities in our college library. College Fair
Each Fall JCS hosts the Florida Christian College Fair which includes over forty colleges and universities across America. This event is open to all high school students at JCS, as well as parents. All high school students will be able to attend during this time.

College Representatives
Throughout the school year, many college and university representatives schedule times to come and speak with Jupiter Christian high school students regarding their college or university. This is a great opportunity for students to talk first hand with admission counselors to learn about requirements, majors, scholarships, and the college experience specific to each school. Please call the guidance office to find out which colleges are scheduled to visit JCS this fall.

College Tour
The College Tour is a planned and chaperoned trip for the benefit of the sophomore class during mini-mester of each year. Mini-mester is the week prior to spring break. The sophomore class has the opportunity to visit seven different college and university campuses in Florida. This tour allows students to see the difference between large state universities, private colleges & universities, and private Christian colleges; so they may begin to learn what type of environment may suit them best. Please look for more exciting information to come!

During the College Tour we plan to visit the following campuses: Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Southeastern University, Stetson University, Rollins College, University of Central Florida, and University of Florida.  Students are able to tour the campuses, eat in the cafeterias, listen to admission representatives, and understand admission requirements. It is a great opportunity to begin to learn how to plan for college.  Look for more information via mail and the Wednesday Note regarding the College Tour.

Dual Enrollment on Campus
JCS has established a partnership with Palm Beach Atlantic University which will allow students to enroll in college coursework while on the Jupiter Christan campus.  These courses will be offered in conjunction with our traditional curriculum.  Students must hold a 3.0 GPA or greater and must have completed their sophomore year to participate. 

Dual Enrollment off Campus
Dual Enrollment is an opportunity for Jupiter Christian School students to enroll concurrently in courses offered at a local college or university. Opportunities with local colleges are encouraged and need to be approved through the guidance office to ensure proper credit. Participation in the program is limited to the following guidelines:

• Student must have completed his/her sophomore year
• Grade point average of 3.0 or higher
• Approval of the Administration
• Adequate ACT, SAT, CPT, or entrance exam scores (depending on the college or university) 
• Submit PBCC Application for Admission early as a dual enroll student.
• Submit High School Dual Enrollment Permission Form (available through the guidance office) on first day of open enrollment for the requested term.  This form must be signed by the guidance counselor.
• Bring High School Dual Enrollment Permission Form to PBCC for registration of the class.
  
  * Grades earned through dual enrollment will become part of a student’s  permanent high school and college record.
  

ACT/SAT Tests
Applications and preparation booklets for the ACT and SAT can be picked up in the Guidance Office.

It is the student's responsibility to register for the test and to have their scores sent to colleges and universities they are considering. Students should begin registering to take their first SAT or ACT test during their Junior year. Please check the ACT and SAT websites for testing dates and registration deadlines.

PSAT/PLAN Tests
All Jupiter Christian School students are automatically registered for the PSAT and PLAN tests. The tests are given during the regular school day. The PSAT will be given to all Juniors on Wednesday, October 12, 2011. It will be held in the morning. The PLAN test will be given to all Sophomores on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. To review the results please make an appointment with Mrs. Ceppo. 

Financial Aid
The financial aid process is a large part of each and every student's college search. After selecting colleges for which a student will apply, a student must work with each of those colleges to find out what their financial aid processes entail. Financial aid is a term that encompasses any scholarships, grants, or loans that will assist a student in paying for college.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the most important financial application for each student to complete. This application is used at every college and university in America as a means to determine financial aid eligibility on an individual basis for each and every student. This may be submitted as early as January 1 of a student's senior year.

Each college or university a student applies to will also have additional scholarships for students that may be based on academic performance, leadership experience or major selection. Talk with each college financial aid office to find out more.

Bright Futures is a scholarship program that all students may apply for based on their GPA and test scores.  In order to receive this award, it is necessary that all students apply online after December 1 of their senior year.  To read more about the program and to apply, please visit the Bright Futures webpage.  Bright Futures 2012 Brochure

Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG)
The William L. Boyd, IV, Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG) Program provides tuition assistance to Florida undergraduate students attending an eligible private, non-profit Florida college or university.  FRAG is a decentralized State of Florida program, which means that each participating institution determines application procedures, deadlines, and student eligibility.  The current dollar amount is $2837 per year.

Florida Student Scholarship and Grant Program

If you are an athlete considering participation in NCAA Division 1 or Division II athletics, you must apply for eligibility through the NCAA Clearinghouse as early as the summer after your Junior year,  If you are a senior, register as soon as possible. The first step is visiting the NCAA website to complete a Student Release Form and submitting a $50 fee. You may choose to complete the form online or through the mail. 

When you register, you MUST submit two copies of your Student Release Form to the Jupiter Christian School Guidance Office.  Upon receipt, the counselors will submit your transcript to NCAA, and your final transcript upon graduation.  SAT or ACT scores must be sent directly from College Board or ACT to NCAA for review.
