Environmental Club
Florida Master Naturalist and JCS parent, Debbie Canney, will be holding an Environmental Club every Tuesday (Kindergarten through First Grade) and Thursday (Second and Third Grades) after school. Students in the club will learn about Florida plants and animals through lots of hands on activities. Projects planned include a vegetable garden and a butterfly garden. Those interested should pick up a form in the front office and turn it back in by September 9, 2008. The cost of the club is $50 per four-week session. Any questions please call Debbie at 561-596-9851.

Elementary Field Trip and Event Fee
Throughout the year, elementary students will partake in learning activities that supplement the classroom curriculum (field trips, interactive science labs, etc.). Rather then collecting fees for these activities as we go through the year, we have implemented a fee for each elementary classroom which uniquely reflects that classroom’s activities. Included in this fee is a class t-shirt which students are to wear on all field trips (unless otherwise specified) and on other designated days.

To view your child’s classroom activities and a fee schedule for the 2008-2009 school year, click here. This fee should be paid no later then September 19, 2008. Please note that these fees do not reflect major field trips that are taken in second through sixth grades. Information on these trips will be given to parents during Orientation.

Absences and Make Up Work
If a parent knows that a child will be absent at a future date due to a special reason, the parent is to either download a Special Absence Request Form or request a form from the teacher. The teacher will provide assignments to be completed by the student that are to be turned in on the day of his/her return.

If a student is absent due to illness, the assignments can be obtained the day the child returns to school. At least one day for each day absent will be allowed to complete make-up work. Long term assignments will be due on time. Make-up work must be done to the satisfaction of the teacher.
